DescriptionThe Software Test Specialist will play a key role in the development and execution of software test procedures used in the validation of the software in our electronic control systems deployed in the rail industry. You will use your skills to support manual and automated software test processes in a fast paced environment. The position requires the ability to participate collaboratively within a project team as well as perform test activities independently. Organizational skills and the ability to communicate clearly and concisely in all aspects of the position, both orally and in written form are necessary, as well the ability to interface with multiple engineering disciplines supporting systems and software testing. An understanding of RTOS environments, the Windows operating system, software configuration management tools, scripting languages, SDLC and test methodologies is expected. You will assemble, configure and maintain test systems. You will execute and maintain automated system level and regression testing on various software components, as well as collect, analyze and document test results. The Software Test Specialist will be required to review and update software test plans and procedures and record defects and other work items into the change management system. Intermediate or higher level of knowledge of LabView Development System is highly desired.
Requirements 2+ years of related software test experience Familiarity with operating PC-based software applications and embedded firmware environments Hands on experience testing software, firmware and electronic control systems and documenting test results Ability to assemble test equipment based on engineering sketches and/ or blueprints Ability to work closely with and take direction from other engineers EDUCATION: BACS or Equivalent
Additional InformationDESIRED SKILLS Familiarity with Agile development methodologies, such as Scrum, in an embedded environment Experience with application lifecycle management tools for software change management, test case management and traceability Ability to design, assemble and troubleshoot electronic test equipment Experience in the rail industry
