Optimizing the Performance of Marine Engines

Leading-edge emission-reduction technology in a durable, dependable medium-speed engine.

V250 Diesel Engines

Wabtec’s V250 marine diesel engines meet US Tier 4 and IMO Tier III emissions standards without aftertreatment. Advanced technology reduces key emissions by more than 70% while maintaining fuel efficiency and providing about 15% more power in virtually the same footprint. Wabtec's V250 diesel engines are available in 12-cylinder and 16-cylinder V configurations for medium-speed duty with continuous power from 3,150bkW to 4,700bkW (EPA Tier 4 & IMO Tier III emissions ratings)

The Grove City Plant has invested over $20MM in testing facilities to test and validate our T4 non-urea Marine and Locomotive engines. Each MDC engine is tested to the applicable class society requirements. The test cell is capable of testing to EPA Tier 4, 40 CFR part 1065 protocol and Marpol Annex VI Tier III emissions regulations.

V228 Diesel Engines

Wabtec’s V228 marine diesel engine series are designed and built for rigorous marine applications. They are amongst the most reliable and fuel efficient, high-compression, four-stroke, medium-speed, turbocharged, and electronically fuel injected engines in their class. With more than 150 million hours of service, they are amongst the most reliable and fuel-efficient engines in their class. Looking for reliable, continuous, efficient power from 1,307bkW to 3,051bkW (IMO II & lower emissions ratings) with operating costs among the lowest in their class? Then learn more about Wabtec’s V228 series engines.

L250 Diesel Engines

Wabtec’s L250 marine diesel engines meet US Tier 4 and IMO Tier III emissions standards without aftertreatment. Advanced technology reduces key emissions by more than 70% while maintaining fuel efficiency. Wabtec's L250 Series Inline Diesel Engine offers a streamlined, fuel-efficient design that delivers continuous power from 1,700bkW to 2500bkW (EPA Tier 4 & IMO Tier III emissions ratings). Specifically engineered for marine applications – with accessories mounted on the engine for maintenance ease – the L250 also includes a full-power PTO option. Available in 6- and 8-cylinder models, the L250 provides ease of re-power with a narrow inline footprint optimized for marine engine room constraints, where space is at a premium.
